If you mean the one I think you mean, I must say I thought of taking a pic of myself with tape on one ear as I edited. No specific Van Gogh came to mind, but just the colours and vague compositional similarity.
I checked and wonder if you meant Cafe Terrace at Night rather than Night Cafe.
The full moon last night sent me out all in a state of heightened expectation, telling myself I’d “got my 23mm mojo back” having loaded my long-abandoned “Fujicron” 23 F2 on the old XT-1. I took a few shots using the back screen only and thought something was wrong with the camera (it’s old).
Turns out in my excitement I had failed to switch from manual focusing to auto and thus blew every shot. As much as I often work with deliberately out of focus images, it’s a controlled out-of-focus, which is why I usually use manual.
Oh well. Thanks for your comments, Les. And Merry Christmas and all that to you and yours!
One is close in flavour to “The Night Cafe” at Arles.

I wanted to reply in kind to your email, but could no longer find your private email address. Does this response go to you only?
Best Wishes,
